Smart buildings - The Future of Building Technology

Smart Phone, Smart Car, Smart Card.. Those are the familiar terms that we usually heard of.. But what about Smart Building?

As we all know, the world that we are living now are going under changes, and these changes have a significant impact on our environment.

For that, as an engineer, I would think that every building that I design should be a Green Building that focuses on energy efficiency, reliable security and energy management and sustainability.

It is just easy said than done, without a proper technology and expertise, it would not happen.

However, Siemens has demonstrated the products and solutions for integrated and logistics, efficient buildings, public security, intelligent networks, water and financing.

As a pioneer in energy efficiency and intelligent infrastructure solutions, Siemens has the knowledge to enhance the quality of life in cities.

Believe it or not – Samsung YOUM Flexible Display

Although I am not a tech-savvy or a gadget person, Samsung has definitely opened my eyes of what they are capable to produce. Flexible Display Smartphone??

Never think that I could even believe it exists. Unless someone shows me the proof!

But guys believe it or not, Samsung is expected to release its first Flexible Display Smartphone called Samsung YOUM somewhere in Q4 of 2013, but in limited quantity.

So far, this is the most interesting yet amazing gadget I have ever heard of. How far it could bend? Would it break? Let’s see some pictures as well as few video clips on Samsung YOUM.

GolfSense - Latest Swing Analyzer

What a tiring day!! I just came back from the driving range located next to JUSCO Bukit Raja. Never before this have I accomplish such record hitting 300 balls in a day.

My objective to the range today is to find out how I can cure my faulty swing. I just can't hit a draw nor a straight ball flight nowadays. All my shots will be either fade or slice, and that really frustrates me.

As usual after having my dinner, I browsed the web to search for something (from golf lesson in Youtube and articles) as an aid to correct my faulty golf swing, then I found what to be 'just the perfect tool' to get me started with to correct my golf swing.

It always amazes me to know what the World of Technology could offer as the days goes by.

Believe it or not - just by using your smartphone you can do just about anything, including analyzing your golf swings.

An i-Phone or an i-Pad will do just great, added with a little device called GolfSense, it can help to detect anything from a small to big mistakes in your golf swings.

GolfSense is what we call the first portable 3-D sensor system that delivers real-time feedback and analysis of our golf swing to a mobile device.

As we can see from the figure, GolfSense is a tiny apparatus that has four Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors that can accurately calculate club speed, club position, swing tempo and swing path.

The device which has two tiny accelerometers, a gyroscope and compass in it - sits on the hands, but through calculations and input of other parameters by the user, such as club selection, flex and shaft length, it can calculate all sorts of data.

After initial calibration, the golfer can see swing plane, clubface position, path, hand speed, clubhead speed, tempo and even hip rotation from the phone, if you put in your pocket.

It also calculates your distance and whether or not you're reaching your maximum speed at impact or before or after.

This is what we can expect from GolfSense application taken from the i-Phone screenshot.
